The Tianhe-1A system at the National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin, is capable of making 2.57 quadrillion calculations per second, knocking the former number one system, the DOE’s Jaguar in Oak Ridge Tennessee to the second place.
The third place spot on the list of 500 fastest, which can be viewed over at www.top500.org, is also situated by a Chinese machine called Nebulae.

I talked about how I was encouraged that Sony was going to create the CISO position, but disappointed that they’d be reporting to the CIO (a position that I feel is inherently in a conflict of interest with the CISO position). However, I got some great news last week - Philip Reitinger was named the firm’s new senior vice president and CISO, and will report to the company’s executive vice president and general counsel.
This is encouraging because Sony is now aligning security and the CISO position more with risk, liability, legal, and compliance areas. This is the polar opposite of a CIO or CTO who is all about efficiency, uptime, and making things more accessible, faster, etc. Somebody inside of Sony has got the right idea and is being listened to, which is a very good sign.

Security experts said on Monday a highly sophisticated computer virus is infecting computers in Iran and other Middle East countries and may have been deployed at least five years ago to engage in state-sponsored cyber espionage. Evidence suggest that the virus, dubbed Flame, may have
been built on behalf of the same nation or nations that commissioned the Stuxnet worm that attacked Iran's nuclear program in 2010, according to Kaspersky Lab, the Russian cyber security software maker that took credit for discovering the infections.

Computer malware described as "the most sophisticated cyberweapon yet unleashed" has been uncovered in computers in the Middle East and may have infected machines in Europe, according to reports from antivirus researchers and software makers in Russia, Hungary and Ireland.
The malware, dubbed Worm.Win32.Flame, is unusual in its complexity, size and the multitude of ways it has of harvesting information from an infected computer including keyboard, screen, microphone, storage devices, network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and system processes.

A super computer is worth U.S. $ 15 million or approximately Rp 146 billion, which uses the principle of 'quantum physics' will soon be installed at the facility the U.S. space agency (NASA). The computer will be used jointly by Google NASA and other scientists. With the computer, they can access the machine 3,600 times faster than conventional computers.
Unlike other machines that standard, the D-Wave processor utilizing Two visible effect called quantum tunneling - allowed him to solve some types of mathematical problems in just a fraction of a second.
